Product Overview

The stainless steel cooling tower is an industrial water cooling device used to remove waste heat from process water, equipment cooling circuits and HVAC systems. It is also called a stainless steel cooling tower, industrial cooling tower, water cooling tower, closed cooling tower or evaporative cooling tower.

Hot water from process equipment or heat exchangers is distributed inside the tower and comes into contact with air through fill or spray systems. Part of the water evaporates and carries away heat, lowering the temperature of the circulating water. The cooled water is collected and returned to the process, while warm and humid air is discharged from the top of the tower.

Stainless steel construction provides better corrosion resistance, higher structural strength and longer service life than carbon steel or galvanized steel towers, especially for chemical, pharmaceutical, food, electroplating and coastal industrial environments.

Structure & Working Principle

The stainless steel cooling tower consists of a stainless steel casing, water distribution system, fill or spray section, fan system, drift eliminator, water collection basin and supporting structure. Hot circulating water enters the tower and is distributed through nozzles or pipes.

Air flows through the tower by natural draft or fan-induced draft. Heat is transferred from water to air through evaporation and sensible heat exchange. Drift eliminators reduce water droplet carryover, and cooled water is collected in the basin for recirculation. Optional components include side-stream filtration, chemical dosing, level control and temperature monitoring systems.
