The stainless steel cyclone tower is a wet gas-liquid contact vessel that combines centrifugal separation with spray washing to remove dust, paint mist, oil mist, acid mist and water-soluble pollutants from industrial exhaust gas. It is also called a swirl plate tower, cyclone scrubber tower, gas-liquid cyclone tower, swirl spray tower or cyclone mist eliminator tower.

Exhaust gas enters the tower and passes through a swirl plate or cyclone section, where the airflow is guided into a rotating motion. The rotating gas stream atomizes circulating washing liquid into fine droplets and throws them toward the tower wall by centrifugal force. Pollutants are captured through inertial collision, liquid film adsorption and centrifugal separation, and the cleaned gas passes through a demisting section before discharge.

Stainless steel construction provides higher mechanical strength, better temperature resistance and longer service life than plastic or FRP towers, especially for high-humidity, high-dust and corrosive wet gas streams.

Structure & Working Principle

The stainless steel cyclone tower is a vertical cylindrical vessel equipped with a gas inlet, cyclone or swirl plate section, spray system, demister, circulation tank, drain outlet and inspection door. Exhaust gas flows upward through the tower while washing liquid is circulated from the top or intermediate section.

The core component is the swirl plate or cyclone section, which guides the gas into rotational flow. The rotating airflow atomizes the washing liquid and creates strong gas-liquid contact. Dust, paint mist, oil mist and acid mist are captured by droplets and liquid films, then separated toward the tower wall by centrifugal force. The separated liquid drains into the circulation tank, and purified gas passes through a demister before discharge.

Depending on process requirements, the tower can be designed with inward swirl plates for absorption and reaction, or outward swirl plates for mist elimination and dust separation.
