Wet Electrostatic Precipitator for Painting and Coating Plants

    Product Overview

Our wet electrostatic precipitator for painting and coating plants is a customized WESP system designed to remove paint mist, oil mist, aerosols, fine particulate matter and sticky pollutants from spray booth, painting line, coating line and paint shop exhaust. It is widely used in automotive painting, furniture coating, metal product painting, steel structure coating, appliance painting and industrial paint finishing processes. The equipment is typically installed after dry filters, cyclone separators, water curtains, spray towers or scrubbers, and before RTO, RCO, zeolite rotor concentrators, activated carbon adsorption units or catalytic combustion systems.

Paint mist and oil mist are sticky, fine and easily condensable. If they are not effectively removed, they can block filter media, reduce zeolite rotor efficiency, poison catalysts, increase activated carbon replacement frequency and raise the fire risk of downstream VOC treatment systems. The WESP uses high-voltage electrostatic charging combined with wet flushing to capture paint mist, oil mist, submicron particles and aerosols, then washes them away with circulating water. This wet cleaning method avoids mechanical rapping, reduces secondary dust emission and helps downstream VOC treatment equipment operate more stably and efficiently.

    How It Works

    • Gas ionization and particle charging: High-voltage DC power generates a strong electric field between the anode tubes/plates and cathode wires, causing gas ionization and particle charging.

    • Paint mist and oil mist collection: Charged paint mist, oil mist, aerosols, PM2.5 and fine droplets migrate to the collecting electrode surface and are captured by the electrode wall.

    • Wet flushing cleaning: The flushing system forms a continuous water film to wash captured paint mist and oil mist into the drain, preventing electrode fouling, tar-like buildup and secondary dust.

    • Pretreatment before VOC systems: When arranged after dry filtration, spray towers or scrubbers, the WESP further removes sticky fine particles and mist droplets from coating exhaust, protecting downstream RTO, RCO, zeolite rotor, activated carbon or catalytic combustion units.

    Key Features

    • High removal efficiency for sticky paint mist and oil mist: effectively captures submicron paint mist, oil mist, aerosols, PM2.5 and fine droplets from coating exhaust.

    • No secondary dust emission: wet flushing replaces mechanical rapping, improving outlet cleanliness and operational stability.

    • Strong adaptability to high-humidity and oily exhaust: suitable for spray booth, painting line and coating line exhaust with high moisture, sticky components and fluctuating working conditions.

    • Stainless steel anode tube modules: anode modules, shell and internal components can be made from stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant materials according to exhaust properties.

    • Flexible structural layout: available in vertical or horizontal type, with circular or square shell, and can be integrated with existing spray booth exhaust, dust removal and VOC treatment systems.

    • Customized engineering supply: configured according to actual air volume, paint type, mist load, temperature, humidity, installation space and downstream VOC process requirements.

    Typical Applications

    • Spray booth and paint shop exhaust pretreatment

    • Automotive painting, furniture coating and metal product coating exhaust treatment

    • Steel structure, machinery, appliance and industrial coating line exhaust polishing

    • Deep purification after dry filter, cyclone separator, water curtain, spray tower or scrubber

    • Pretreatment before RTO, RCO, zeolite rotor concentrator, activated carbon adsorption or catalytic combustion systems

    • Removal of paint mist, oil mist, aerosols, PM2.5, fine particulate matter and sticky condensable pollutants

    • Visible plume reduction and VOC system protection for painting and coating plants

    FAQ

Where is the painting plant WESP typically installed?
It is usually installed after dry filters, cyclone separators, water curtains, spray towers or scrubbers, and before RTO, RCO, zeolite rotor, activated carbon or catalytic combustion systems.

    What pollutants can it remove?
It mainly removes paint mist, oil mist, aerosols, PM2.5, fine particulate matter, sticky droplets and condensable pollutants from painting and coating exhaust.

Can it protect downstream VOC treatment equipment?
Yes. By removing sticky paint mist and oil mist before RTO, RCO, zeolite rotor or activated carbon units, it helps reduce blockage, catalyst fouling and adsorbent replacement frequency.

    What materials are used?
Anode modules, shell and internal components can be made from stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant materials based on exhaust composition and customer requirements.

Is the equipment available in different structures?
Yes. It can be supplied in vertical or horizontal structure, with circular or square shell, and can be customized according to site conditions.
